About the Author

"The goal of a literary artist is to create,

for a reader, a place that allows them to

defy their own reality and hopefully substitute

it with my fiction." -A. Phoenix Richard

Greetings and welcome to my "All about me" page. Yes, it's vain, but I caught you looking. My mini-biography is posted below. However, In my new Blogs, "From the Ashes," and "Just Politicking" you will find a host of other information about me, things I love, and despise as well as a listing on my writing goals and political ideas.

Biography

Astrya Richard was raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She is a graduate of Southern University & A&M College and is a Political Consultant & Technical Writer (soon to be teacher) in Houston, Texas where she resides with her husband Hill, and five-year-old son Rhys. Ms. Richard began creative writing when she was in grade school. By the time she was in middle school she was penning plays about her circle of friends. In college, she wrote her first screenplay and her first novel before uniting writing with her other passion, politics and writing for the campus political paper. She was recognized for her sharp analysis of the political landscape and offered a prestigious White House Fellowship while still an undergraduate. Astrya also wrote a couple of national championship winning debate cases and penned two plays, that were later staged. To date, she has written nine plays, seven short stories, several skeleton novels and a host of poems. Family Secrets was her first published work but she is currently working on four literary projects. Of those, two are fiction novels and two or political non-fiction books. Ms. Richard's future fiction writing will be published under the pen name, A. Phoenix Richard while her non-fiction work will remain listed under Astrya Richard. The follow-up to "Family Secrets", "Things Fall Apart" will be the first new work released in the Fall of 2007.
